How to Search Consumer Reports Online

As we all know, Consumer Reports (CR) magazine is a reliable source of product information.  Did you know that you can search CR online, via the Library website, for FULL access to its magazines going back to 1991?  (You can search the CR website; however, full access is not available without paying to join.)  So the Library access is a good deal! 

A quick review of how to search Consumer Reports online, via the Library – (have your Library account info handy)

Once you are in our Library’s website, click on “Search Digital Catalog” (in the blue ribbon, top of page)

  • Click on “Research Databases” box
  • Scroll down to “Search: “Consumer Reports” box and click on it      
  • Log in with your account info
  • Look for the phrase “Search within this publication” in small blue letters above the title and click on it
  • Click on “Advanced Search” just below the box that shows JN “Consumer Reports”
  • Type your search words in the gray boxes
  • Scroll down the page to see a few options to help narrow your search results (Hint: fill in the years to limit results in the “Published Date” section)
  • Scroll to bottom of page and click the “Search” box    
  • Click on “PDF Full Text” to see the full article, which you can print
