Since 1797, the Southold Library has been serving the residents of Southold and Peconic. Of course, books have always been the main focus of service. Back in 1797, it was a new and innovative concept to offer books for free lending.

Over the years, the library has continued to meet the needs of this community, through lending materials, and offering all types of programs and services. Striving to meet the needs of 21st century lifelong learners, the library offers much more than books. Just a small sample of resources include genealogy expertise, concerts, book signings, food tastings, fishing poles to borrow, e-books to download, independent movies to stream, DVD’s,kindles, iPads, resume writing expertise, and much, much more.
