As of June 2026, the Library began working towards a Certification with the Sustainable Libraries Initiative, which was created in response to resolutions by the New York and American Library Associations' on the importance of sustainable libraries. We are deeply committed to ensuring that our community thrives for generations to come. That is why we have officially joined the SLI to guide our path forward.
Through this rigorous certification process, we are actively implementing practices that are:
- Environmentally Sound: Reducing our footprint and protecting our local ecosystems.
- Socially Equitable: Ensuring our programs, spaces, and resources are accessible and just for every member of our community.
- Economically Feasible: Being responsible stewards of public funding through smart, long-term investments.
